The Outsiders - S.E. Hinton

"The Outsiders"

I just realised that the novel we're about to study for English this semester was actually made into a movie starring Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, and Matt Dillon! My lecturer did pick a good book :)

Just looking at the promo picture for the movie sends my enthusiasm to read soaring high! The casts are so bad-boy-looking and awesome I can't wait to read. A few words are starting to pop up in my head already - brawny, lean, gangly, rugged - hahs, I am ready for some fights described in words. Teehee.

Oh, "The Outsiders" is one of S.E. Hinton's best selling books and the synopsis goes something like this:
According to Ponyboy, there are two kinds of people in the world: greasers and socs. A soc (short for "social") has money, can get away with just about anything, and has an attitude longer than a limousine. A greaser, on the other hand, always lives on the outside and needs to watch his back. Ponyboy is a greaser, and he's always been proud of it, even willing to rumble against a gang of socs for the sake of his fellow greasers--until one terrible night when his friend Johnny kills a soc. The murder gets under Ponyboy's skin, causing his world to crumble and teaching him that pain feels the same whether a soc or a greaser.

The only thing left for me to do now is to purchase the book. I'm coming for ya!

YAY! YAY! YAY!
